In Module 2, you expanded from basic French foundations into more personal and descriptive communication. You learned how to ask and answer questions about age, origin, and nationality, using important structures such as avoir, être, de, du, and des.
You also learned how to describe people, places, and things with adjectives. You practiced masculine and feminine adjective forms, singular and plural agreement, colour adjectives, and common descriptive words such as grand, petit, intéressant, facile, difficile, beau, belle, bon, and bonne.
You then studied the verb avoir in more detail. You learned how to use it to talk about possession, age, and common expressions such as avoir faim, avoir soif, avoir chaud, avoir froid, avoir besoin de, and avoir envie de.
You also began building more flexible sentences by using basic negation with ne… pas and ne… jamais, and by asking informal yes-no questions with normal sentence order and rising intonation.
By the end of Module 2, you should be able to ask someone’s age, say where someone is from, ask and answer questions about nationality, describe nouns with adjectives and colours, use avoir in common expressions, make basic negative sentences, and ask simple yes-no questions in informal speech.
Module 3 will build on these skills by moving into everyday interaction and action. You will learn how to get someone’s attention, ask and tell the time, say when events happen, talk about activities with present-tense -er verbs, discuss weather and outdoor activities with faire, ask information questions, and describe people, places, and things in greater detail.
