In Module 6, you learned how to express opinions, preferences, clothing descriptions, demonstratives, -ir verbs, and direct object pronouns. You began by asking for someone’s opinion with expressions such as Qu’est-ce que tu en penses ?, Tu trouves ça comment ?, and Tu aimes ça ? You also practiced giving opinions with je pense que, je trouve ça, j’aime ça, and je ne suis pas d’accord.
You then learned how to ask about preferences using préférer, with questions such as Qu’est-ce que tu préfères ? and Tu préfères le café ou le thé ? You practiced answering with je préfère, j’aime mieux, and giving simple reasons with parce que.
You expanded your vocabulary for clothing and accessories, including words such as un chapeau, une chemise, un manteau, une robe, des chaussures, des lunettes, and une écharpe. You learned how to describe outfits with porter, colours, patterns, fabrics, and style expressions such as à rayures, à carreaux, en coton, en cuir, à manches longues, and à col roulé.
You also learned demonstrative articles: ce, cet, cette, and ces, which let you point out specific people, places, and things. You practiced phrases like ce chapeau, cet étudiant, cette robe, and ces chaussures.
In the grammar sections, you studied two types of -ir verbs. First, you learned verbs like dormir, partir, sortir, and servir, which use a shorter stem in the singular forms. Then you learned regular -ir / -iss verbs like finir, choisir, réussir, and réfléchir.
Finally, you learned direct object pronouns such as me, te, le, la, l’, nous, vous, and les. You practiced replacing nouns with pronouns in sentences like Je le regarde, Je la porte, Je les aime, and Je vais l’acheter.
By the end of Module 6, you should be able to ask for and give opinions, compare preferences, describe clothing and accessories, point out specific items with demonstrative articles, use important -ir verb patterns, and refer back to people and things with direct object pronouns.
Module 7 will build on these skills by helping you ask how long and since when, narrate a series of past events, talk about entertainment and cultural events, use verbs such as vouloir, devoir, pouvoir, and savoir, refer to nonspecific people and things with indefinite pronouns, and begin talking about past activities with the passé composé.
