In Module 8, you learned how to ask for advice, describe daily routines, name parts of the body, use pronominal verbs, ask questions in different ways, and talk about routine actions in the past.
You began by asking for advice and recommendations with expressions such as Tu me conseilles quoi ?, Quâest-ce que je dois faire ?, and Je devrais faire quoi ? You also practiced giving advice with tu devrais + infinitive and je te conseille de + infinitive, such as Tu devrais dormir and Je te conseille de prendre une pause.
You then learned how to ask about someoneâs daily routine with Quelle est ta routine quotidienne ? and Quâest-ce que tu fais le matin ? You practiced talking about morning, afternoon, and evening activities with expressions such as je me rĂ©veille, je me lĂšve, je prends le petit-dĂ©jeuner, je fais mes devoirs, and je me couche.
You expanded your vocabulary for the body, including la tĂȘte, les yeux, la bouche, le bras, la main, le dos, le ventre, la jambe, and le pied. You also learned how to say where something hurts with avoir mal Ă , such as Jâai mal Ă la tĂȘte, Jâai mal au dos, and Jâai mal aux pieds.
In the grammar sections, you studied pronominal verbs such as se rĂ©veiller, se lever, se doucher, sâhabiller, se reposer, and se coucher. You learned how reflexive pronouns change with the subject: je me, tu te, il/elle se, nous nous, vous vous, and ils/elles se.
You also learned how to use pronominal verbs after another verb, as in Je veux me reposer, Tu dois te coucher, Il va se doucher, and Nous allons nous amuser. Then you reviewed additional ways to ask questions, including informal questions, est-ce que questions, inversion, quel / quelle / quels / quelles, quâest-ce que, and qui.
Finally, you learned how to use pronominal verbs in the passĂ© composĂ©. You practiced forms such as je me suis rĂ©veillĂ©(e), je me suis levĂ©(e), elle sâest habillĂ©e, and ils se sont reposĂ©s, and learned that pronominal verbs use ĂȘtre as the auxiliary.
By the end of Module 8, you should be able to ask for advice, describe a daily routine, name common parts of the body, say where something hurts, use pronominal verbs in the present tense, use them after another verb, ask questions in several forms, and talk about routine actions in the past.
Module 9 will build on these skills by helping you describe how things were or used to be, talk about residences, rooms, and household items, form comparatives and superlatives, express repeated or ongoing actions in the past with the imparfait, and compare different ways of viewing past events.
